Can A Piano Be Tuned After 20 Years? If a piano has not been tuned during an extensive period of time, it is still possible for it to be corrected.
The piano tuner/technician would probably need three or more tuning sessions over a course of a few weeks to get the piano stable enough to play properly. Most of the time, older pianos (20+ years old) have structural issues like cracks in the soundboard, cracks there the tuning pins are, worn out hammers, the list goes on. Now that doesn't mean its not worth tuning and fixing it up. Many old pianos can be repaired and fixed up, just like an old antique (or not so antique) car. |
